Angel L. Torres-Barreto

Angel L. Torres-Barreto, 86, of Kutztown, passed away, surrounded by his loving family, on Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township, PA.

Born September 14, 1935 in Orocovis, Puerto Rico, he was the son of the late Quintina Barreto and Juan Torres Sr. He and his wife, Laila A. (Kohler) Barreto, were married on July 31, 2015 at St.Margaret Roman Catholic Church, Reading, PA.

Angel taught English at an elementary school in Puerto Rico. He had also worked as a cutter at the Kutztown Shoe Factory and for the Fleetwood Shirt Company. Angel enjoyed reading the bible and doing word search puzzles.

In addition to his wife, Laila, Angel is survived by his children, Ida E. (Barreto) Manmiller, wife of Dennis Manmiller, Lyons, and Millie M. (Barreto) Hayes, wife of Richard Hayes, Lenhartsville. He is also survived by his sister, Emerita Torres, Muhlenberg Township and by his brothers, Maximo Torres, husband of Linda Torres, Fleetwood and Lucas Torres, husband of Darlene Torres, Mertztown.

Along with his parents, Angel was prceded in death by his brothers, Natividad, Ramon, Francisco and Juan Jr., and by his first wife, Neida Colon.

Services for Angel will be private.
