Barbara A. (Sarangoulis) Boone

Barbara Ann (Sarangoulis) Boone, 87, of Reading, passed away Monday, February 24, 2020 at the Berks Heim Nursing Home. She was the wife of the late Russell Boone and mother of the late Kerry Boone.

Born in Reading, Barbara was the daughter of Christ and Edna Sarangoulis. She was a graduate of Reading High School in 1951. Barbara was an expert at her craft of hand coating candy. She worked at Zipf’s Candies at their former downtown Reading location and then at Schott’s Candies at their former West Reading location.

She was predeceased by brothers Ted, Kenneth, and Bill Sarangoulis, along with sisters Betty (Sarangoulis) Poust and Mary (Sarangoulis) Brophy.

Barbara is survived by her daughter Lori and her husband Peter Craig; grandchildren Dean and his wife Jena Damiani; Derek and his wife Alyssa Damiani; Darren Damiani; step grandchildren, Pete and his wife, Tori Craig and Travis Craig. Additionally, she is survived by her five great-grandchildren Ella, Livia, Lilianna, Dominic, and Cecelia.

In life, Barbara loved to play bingo, take trips to Atlantic City, her weekly hair appointment, bake world class pies at the holidays and spend time with the family. However, her biggest joy in life was the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Friends and family will always remember her big heart, kindness and willingness to always lend a helping hand, especially babysitting the great-grandchildren.

Barbara’s daughter Lori would like to express her sincere appreciation to everyone at Manor at Market Square for the loving care they provided the last few years during her battle with Dementia and also to Berks Heim for the extraordinary care the last few weeks.
