Mrs. Barbara J. (Motto) Burhans, 68, of Pottstown, passed away, surrounded by her loving family, on Monday, February 26, 2024, at her home.
Born July 9, 1955, in Pottstown, Barbara was the daughter of the late Donald R. and Mary V. (Riddle) Motto. Her husband of 42 years, William J. Burhans, passed away on May 20, 2019.
Barbara was a registered nurse working at Jefferson University Hospital for 15 years. She also worked at Coventry Family Care, Phoenixville Hospital, and as a school nurse for the Phoenixville Area School District. She was a member of the American Association of Operating Room Nurses and a certified school nurse.
Barbara was a member of Shenkel United Church of Christ, Pottstown, where she taught nursery for 30 years. She was a 1973 graduate of Owen J. Roberts High School, and a 1976 graduate of the Chester County Hospital School of Nursing. Barbara went on to earn her Bachelor of Nursing degree from Immaculata University. She enjoyed horseback riding, exercising, water aerobics, reading, going to the beach, and her newest hobby, playing pickleball.
Barbara is survived by her children, Vicky Lynn (Jones) Hyde, wife of William Hyde, Coffee Springs, AL, William Terryll Jones, Echo, UT, Erik Stromness, husband of Stefanie Stromness, Dixon, CA, Erika Lynn (Burhans) Price, wife of Kim Price, Fleetwood, Heather L. Burhans Tran, wife of Cha ̂u Tran, Randallstown, MD, and Everett F. Burhans II, husband of Holly Brookfield, Front Royal, VA. She is also survived by her sisters, Kathryn Motto, wife of Gideon Margolis, San Diego, CA, and Annette Motto Toro, wife of David Haas, Delmar, DE, 4 grandchildren, 11 step-grandchildren and 3 step great-grandchildren.
Memorial Services for Barbara will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at 2:00 pm at Shenkel UCC Church, 1580 Shenkel Road, Pottstown, PA. A visitation will be held Saturday, March 23, 2024, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at the church.
