Beverly A. (Rodgers) Smale

Beverly A (Rodgers) Smale, 66, of Palmerton, passed away, with her daughter by her side, on Thursday, June 29, 2023, at Lehigh Valley Hospital - Carbon, Lehighton.

Born August 12, 1956, in Palmerton, she was the daughter of Marion (Henning) Rodgers, and the late Charles B. Rodgers Sr., of Aquashicola, PA.

Beverly worked for Fernbrook Sportswear as a blind stitcher for 30 years, retiring in 2002. She also worked tailoring clothing and doing alterations and cleaning. Beverly attended the United Methodist Church of Aquashicola. She attended the Aquashicola School, Franklin School and Palmerton High School, ultimately achieving her GED from the Palmerton Library.

Known to many as the "Mayor of Palmerton", Beverly dedicated much of her time to helping others in need. She volunteered at Palmerton Hospital, Dream Come True Benefits and Turn to Us, Inc., St. John Neumann Regional School, Family Promise, Lehighton, Aquashicola Fire Company, and any fundraiser to support local people. She also loved sewing, helping people, going to yard sales, thrift shopping, basket raffles, dancing and walking the canals, and was always up for a community event.

In addition to her Mom, Marion, Beverly is survived by her daughter, Tonia A. (Smale) Lorenzo, wife of Domingo Lorenzo, Palmerton, her granddaughter, Isabella, Bowmanstown, her sisters, Bonnie Payonk, wife of Timmy Payonk, Palmerton, and Donna Bollinger, wife of Mark Bollinger, Kunkletown.

Along with her father, she was preceded in death by her brother, Charles B. "Buddy" Rodgers, Jr., and her sister, Ginger Rodgers.
