Carl E. Hilborn, 89, formerly of Pottstown, passed away on Friday, May 3, 2024, at Willbrook Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, Kutztown.
Born January 9, 1935, in Pottstown, Carl was the son of the the late Carl L. and Ruth M. (Deibler) Hilborn and the late Emma M. (Smoyer) Hilborn.
Carl served his country honorably and faithfully as a member of the Pennsylvania Army National Guard.
Carl was a jack of all trades. He worked for Robinson Clay, Pottstown, drove truck as an independent truck driver as well as for Bethlehem Steel, Jones Motor, Lancer Division, and Scout Trucking. He also worked as a groundskeeper for Dr. Vernon Morris and as a janitor for Budget Maintenance.
Carl was a member of the German Club, Pottstown, North Coventry Fire Company, and the Linfield United Church of Christ. He attended the Spring Ford High School. Carl was a longtime Scout Master and a member of the Order of the Arrow. He truly enjoyed being outside doing all kinds of activities, especially fishing and hiking.
Carl is survived by his two children, Rebecca L. (Hilborn) Thorne, wife of James M. Thorne, Pottstown, and Cory E. Hilborn, Sr., companion of Jacqueline Lopez-Beck, Fleetwood. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Dakota, Tyler, Brenden, Savannah, Cory Jr., Killian, Nathan, Nicolas, and Emily, his great-grandchildren, Atlas, Lincoln, and Bristol, and by his sisters, Shirley and Margaret.
Along with his parents, Carl was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Amanda J. Hilborn, his sisters, Linda and Lucinda, and by his brother, Richard.
A graveside funeral service for Carl will be held on Friday, May 10, 2024, at 11:00 am at Limerick Garden of Memories, 44 Swamp Pike, Limerick.
