Dalton S. Reed, 82, of Lyons, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Monday, December 7, 2015 at Penn State Health, St. Joseph Medical Center, Bern Township.
Born June 22, 1933 in Lyons, he was the son of the late Frank and Florence (Reppert) Reed. His wife of 53 years, Suzanne F. (Baer) Reed, passed away on November 7, 2010. They were married on February 23, 1957 in Fleetwood.
Dalton worked for over 40 years for General Battery, which became Exide Battery, in Muhlenberg Twp. He was a long time member of the Lyons Fire Company having served as past president of the fire company. Dalton was very active in the Lyons Community. He was instrumental in the development of the Lyons Park, the Lyons Ballfield and was active with the Lyons Fiddlefest. He played on the Lyons Senior Softball team and also was on the pool team and enjoyed his Sunday morning Euchre games.
Dalton served his country honorably in the United States Navy. He was a member of St. Paul's UCC Church, Fleetwood and attended Kutztown Area High School.
Dalton is survived by his son, Michael S. Reed, Eldersburg, MD, daughters Sandy L. (Reed) Frederick, wife of Clark L. Frederick, Fleetwood and Anne M. (Reed) Eben, wife of Bill Eben, Kutztown, his Companion Brenda Wagaman, Mertztown, his grandchildren, Michael Reed, Jacob Reed, Adam Frederick, husband of Cary (Deragon) Frederick, Taylor Eben and Joey Eben, his great grandchildren, Jack N. Frederick and Camilla S. Frederick, his sister, Vivian (Reed) Keppley, Hopkinsville, KY and by his two grand dogs, Baxter and Abbey.
In addition to his parents, Dalton was preceded in death by his siblings, Mark Reed, Clarabelle Henry, Charles Reed, his twin Dallas Reed and Grant Reed.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, December 14, 2015 at 11:00 am at Walbert Funeral Home & Cremation Services, PC, 14390 Kutztown Road, Fleetwood, with the Rev. Patrick W. Morris officiating. A viewing will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 am at the funeral home. Burial will be in Lyons Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the St. Paul's UCC Church Memorial Fund, 5 W. Arch St., Fleetwood, PA 19522.
