Mrs. Ellen Jane (Salmon) Schacht

Mrs. Ellen Jane (Salmon) Schacht, 85, of Bowers, passed away on Monday, May 11, 2020 in Kutztown, PA as a result of Covid-19.

Born August 6, 1934 in Iroquois, Ontario, she was the daughter of the late Jay and Bessie (Merkley) Salmon. Her husband of 44 years, Ray M. Schacht, passed away on November 27, 2015.

Ellen attended Morrisburg High School in Ontario. She went on to work for Bell Canada as a telephone operator and Supervisor for 10 years. She also worked at Leh’s Department Store, Allentown, in the women’s clothing department, sold advertising for WHOL Country Radio, Allentown and worked for 30 years at Renningers Farmers Market, Kutztown.

Ellen attended Trinity Lutheran Church, Kutztown and loved to debate with people about politics.

Ellen is survived by her daughter, Danielle L. (Boyer) Becker, wife of Roger Q. Becker, Bowers, grandchildren, Raegen, Joshua, Dane, Mandy and Anthony and great-grandchildren, Logan, Haily, Ella, William and Mikhael. She is also survived by her brothers and sisters, Roger Salmon, husband of June Salmon, Chesterville, ON, Kaye Hanson, wife of Foster Hanson, Oshawa, ON, Percey Salmon, husband of Marilyn Salmon, Morrisburg, ON and Wayne Salmon, husband of Bessie Salmon, Ingleside, ON.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Willis Salmon.

Due to current conditions in Berks County, services for Ellen will be scheduled at a later date.
