Mrs. Ethel S. (Mertz) Heffner

Mrs. Ethel S. (Mertz) Heffner, 90, of Maidencreek Township, passed away on Sunday, June 11, 2023, surrounded by her loving family, at her home.

Born May 21, 1933 in Richmond Township, she was the daughter of the late Harrison W. and Helen E. (Kunkel) Mertz. Her husband of 47 years, Robert J. Heffner, passed away on June 21, 1999.

Ethel was a homemaker and longtime farmer, having farmed for over 70 years. She was a member of Becker's St. Peters Lutheran Church, Molltown, where she served on the altar guild and was a Sunday School teacher. She was also a longtime member of the Fleetwood Grange #1839. She loved gardening, baking, quilting, playing cards and most of all, spending time with her grandchildren.

Ethel is survived by her four children, Gary L. Heffner, husband of Kathy L. (Geho) Heffner, Kutztown, Teresa J. (Heffner) Davis, wife of Luther A. Davis, Kutztown, Cheryl A. (Heffner) Folk, wife of Brian R. Folk, Kutztown, and Joel R. Heffner, companion of Michele Bubbenmoyer, Fleetwood. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Timothy and his partner, Janel, Lynette and her husband, Troy, Brian and his partner Sheila, Corey, Elliot and his wife, Erin, Erica and her partner, Jason, Gregory and his wife, Megan, Aaron and his wife, Brittney, Jillian, Rebecca and her husband, Jarrett, Kristen and her husband, Will, Jordan, Kara and her husband, Ben, and Zachary, by her great-grandchildren, Joshua, Alice, Ruth, Sadie, Halie, Gavin, Sophia, Cayden, Theodore, Lucy, Emma, Wyatt, and Avery, and by her sister-in-law, Doris M. Mertz.

Along with her parents and her husband, Robert, Ethel was preceded in death by her two brothers, Ernest M. Mertz and Earl H. Mertz.

Ethel's family would like to offer special thanks to Phyllis from Griswold Home Care for her loving care of their mother.

Funeral Services for Ethel will be held on Friday, June 16, 2023, at 11:00 am at Becker's St. Peters Lutheran Church, 265 Maidencreek Road, Fleetwood, PA. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Viewings for Ethel will be held on Thursday evening, June 15, 2023, from 7:00 to 9:00 pm at Walbert Funeral Home & Crematory, 14390 Kutztown Rd, Fleetwood, and again on Friday morning, June 16, 2023 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the church.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Ethel's memory to Becker's St. Peters Lutheran Church, 265 Maidencreek Rd, Fleetwood, PA 19522.
