Frieda Simonsen

Frieda M. (Zabel) Simonsen, 92, of Kempton, passed away on Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.

Born in Carteret, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Anna (Lauter) Zabel. She and her husband of 69 years, Richard Simonsen, were married on November 15, 1947 in Rahway, NJ.

Frieda, a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, was an avid gardener. She was a Cub Scout and Girl Scout Leader and crafter who enjoyed learning and using her computer, especially making personalized greeting cards. With a passion for genealogy, she created many family trees for numerous people, both family and friends.

Frieda was a 1941 graduate of Jonathan Dayton Regional High School, Springfield, NJ.

In addition to her husband, Richard, Frieda is survived by her children, Dawn D. (Simonsen) Janssen, wife of Robert J. Janssen, Cedar Springs, MI, and Richard R. Simonsen, Hillsborough, NJ. She is also survived by her granddaughter, Anneke A. (Janssen) Polka, wife of Cory Polka Green Oaks, IL, her grandchildren, Brayden and Reese, her sister, Elsie Searles, Newark, DE and her brother Edward Zabel, husband of Carol Zabel, Easton, PA.

Along with her parents, Frieda was preceded in death by her sister, Eleanor Kren.

Funeral Services for Frieda will be private.
