Mrs. Gladys J. Rhoads

Mrs. Gladys J. (Harding) Rhoads, 79, of Mertztown, passed away on Saturday, November 25, 2023 at her home.

Born January 13, 1944 in West Reading, she was the daughter of the late Elmer and Lulu (Brumbach) Harding. Her husband of 61 years, Ronald L. Rhoads, passed away on August 16, 2023.

Gladys worked for many years as a seamstress, having worked at various factories in Berks County. She was a longtime member of St. John's Gernant's Church, Leesport, and a member of the ladies auxiliary of the Lyons Fire Company. Gladys graduated in 1961 from Kutztown Area High School and loved sewing, bingo and playing cards.

Gladys is survived by her two children, Maurie D. Rhoads, husband of Kim (Sunday) Rhoads, Fleetwood, and Melissa A. (Rhoads) Blassingame, wife of Keith Blassingame, Merritt Island, Florida. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Paul Blassingame and Alissa Blassingame, and by her great-grandchildren, Liberty, and Cayden.

Along with her parents, and her husband, Ron, Gladys was preceded in death by her brother Calvin Harding.

Memorial Services for Gladys will be held on Thursday, December 7, 2023, at 7:00 pm at Walbert Funeral Home & Crematory, 14390 Kutztown Rd, Fleetwood. A visitation will be held Thursday from 6:00 pm until the time of services at the funeral home.
