Hans J. Walter, 76, of Fleetwood, passed away on Thurs, Oct. 1, 2015 at Penn State Health, St. Joseph Medical Center where he had been a patient since Saturday.
Born, March 6, 1939 in Vienna, Austria, he was a son of the late Edgar and Johanna (Nagl) Walter. He and his wife, Gale P. (Fisher) Walter were married in Toronto, Ontario on July 6, 1963 and celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary this year.
Hans was a Vice President in Purchasing, having worked for Ford Motor Company, International Harvester and Mack Trucks. He was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Fleetwood, having held positions on church council, the St. Paul's Union Church Memorial Columbarium and many others. He was the Sergeant-at-Arms of the Rotary Club of Fleetwood and was active with the Fleetwood Community Bus.
Hans enjoyed gardening, swimming, walking, traveling with Gale and was especially fond of his four grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Gale, Hans is survived by his three children, Karl A. Walter, Chicago, IL, Terry L. (Walter) Hook, wife of Michael C. Hook, Fleetwood and Scott G. Walter, husband of Heather C. (Hill) Walter, Denver, CO. He is also survived by his four grandchildren, Matt and Brad Hook, Ali and Liam Walter and his brothers Ed Walter, husband of Yolande Walter, London, ON and Klaus Walter, husband of Vivian Walter, Ajax, ON
A Memorial Service for Hans will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 6, at 11:00 am at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 117 E. Arch St, Fleetwood. Visitations will be held on Monday, Oct. 5, from 6 to 8 pm at Walbert Funeral Home & Cremation Services, PC, 14390 Kutztown Rd, Fleetwood and again on Tuesday, Oct. 6 from 10:00 to 11:00 am at the church. Inurnment will be private in the St. Paul's Union Church Memorial Columbarium, Fleetwood.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Hans' memory to the St. Paul's Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 117 E. Arch St., Fleetwood, PA 19522.
