Harold E. Kemmerer, 84, formerly of Laureldale, passed away on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at Phoebe Berks Health Center, Wernersville.
Born January 5, 1933 in Alsace Township, he was the son of the late Peter W. and Pearl (Hartman) Kemmerer. His wife of 58 years, Carolyn M. (Folk) Kemmerer, passed away on August 9, 2016. They were married on July 26, 1958 at Epiphany Lutheran Church, Temple.
Harold worked for over 40 years for NGK Metals, Inc, Temple and worked for over 25 years in the laundry department at the plant.
Harold was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Fleetwood. He was a former and lifelong member of Epiphany Lutheran Church, Temple where he spent many years as sexton. Harold graduated in 1951 from Muhlenberg High School. He was also a life member of Central Fire Company, Laureldale and a member of the Pike Township Sportsman's Association. Harold loved hunting and camping.
Harold served his country honorable and faithfully in the United States Army, serving during the Korean War.
Harold is survived by his two children, Kenneth C. Kemmerer, husband of Kristel Pfeil Kemmerer, Ruscombmanor Twp, and Karen K. (Kemmerer) Boyer, widow of James H. "Pickle" Boyer, Fleetwood. He is also survived by his three grandchildren, Kate M. Kemmerer, Washington, DC, Karl A. Kemmerer, Pittsburgh and Christian H. Boyer, Lubbock, TX.
Along with his parents, Peter and Pearl, his wife, Carolyn and his son-in-law, Jim, Harold was preceded in death by his brother, Warren and his sister, Sarah.
Funeral Services for Harold will be held on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at 11:00 am at Walbert Funeral Home & Cremation Services, PC, 14390 Kutztown Rd, Fleetwood, with Rev. Gary L. Walbert officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Laureldale Cemetery. A viewing will be held on Saturday from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the funeral home.
