Helena M. Heffner

Helena M. (Kopicz) Heffner, 92, of Maidencreek Township, passed away on Monday, February 27, 2017 at her home.

Born September 30, 1924 in Evansville, PA, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Walencina (Ziola) Kopicz. Her husband of 40 years, Roy M. Heffner, passed away on January 7, 1989. They were married on June 5, 1948.

Helena worked for the Fleetwood Shirt Factory as a seamstress, retiring in 1987. Prior to that, she had worked for Textile Machine Works in Department 53, the needle department. She was a member of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Kutztown and truly enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, whether babysitting or attending their sporting events. She was also known for her cooking and baking, especially her pies. She also enjoyed gardening, crossword puzzles and word searches.

Helena is survived by her children, Bonita J. Heffner, Oley, Joan A. (Heffner) Focht, wife of Robert B. Focht, Allentown, Theresa M. (Heffner) Kline, wife of Randall A. Kline, Oley and Timothy M. Heffner, husband of Kathy L. (Gruber) Heffner, Fleetwood. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Shannon, Melissa, Chad, Katie and Mandi, her great grandchildren, Anya, Avery, Evan, Ace and Levon, her brother, Harry Kopicz Jr. and her sister-in-law, Verna Kopicz.

In addition to her parents, Helena was preceded in death by her grandson, Randall A. Kline, Jr. and her siblings, Leon Boczar, Karolina (Boczar) Szwarek, Mary (Kopicz) James and Nicholas Kopicz.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Helena will be held on Friday, March 3, 2017 at 10:00 am at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, 14833 Kutztown Rd, Kutztown, with Rev. Msgr. Walter T. Scheaffer as celebrant. Burial will follow in Gethsemane Cemetery, Laureldale.

Viewings will be held for Helena on Thursday evening, March 2, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm and again on Friday, March 3, 2017 from 8:30 am to 9:30 am at Walbert Funeral Home & Cremation Services, PC 14390 Kutztown Rd, Fleetwood, PA. A prayer service will be held on Thursday evening at 7:45 pm at the funeral home.
