Herman O. Himmelberger

Herman O. Himmelberger, 79, of Ruscombmanor Township, passed away on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at Reading Hospital.

Born September 13, 1939 in Molltown, he was the son of the late Herman and Thelma (Mull) Himmelberger. He and his wife, Rachel O. (Ostrander) Himmelberger would have celebrated their 29th wedding anniversary on Thanksgiving.

Herman served his country honorably and faithfully as a United States Marine. He drove trucks and busses for Bieber, Kutztown and was a supervisor for Pinnacle Commercial Refrigeration, Inc., Fleetwood. He was a member of the Pike Township Sportsmen’s Association and the American Quarter Horse Association. He loved horses, tractors and western movies.

Surviving in addition to his wife, Rachel, are his two step-children, Peter A. Sands, companion of Stephanie J. Murray, Shillington and Melissa S. (Sands) Devlin, wife of Jeffrey C. Devlin, Mount Penn. He is also survived by his step-grandchildren, Anthony, Lauren, Cooper and Mya, his brother, Ronald K. Himmelberger, husband of Mary Himmelberger, Blandon and his sister, Judy A. Freeman, widow of David Freeman, Temple.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Gerald T. Himmelberger.

Graveside services for Herman will be held on Friday, November 23, 2018 at 11:00 am at Berks County Memorial Gardens, 201 Evansville Road, Fleetwood, PA.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Herman’s memory to the COPD Foundation, 3300 Ponce de Leon Blvd, Miami, FL 33134.
