James R. Corson, 63, of Fleetwood, passed away on Sunday, March 22, 2015 at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, where he had been a patient for one week.
Born August 9, 1951 in Clarksville, TN, he was the son of Robert F. Corson, Pottsville and the late Bertha H. (Hamby) Corson. He and his wife, Donna M. (Kuchera) Corson were married on September 5, 1981.
James was a United States Army veteran. He was an active member of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Kutztown where he trained altar servers and also served as a lector and Eucharistic Minister. James worked for Metalsa and Dana for many years. He also worked as a programmer for GPU for over 20 years.
He was a 1969 graduate of Nativity BVM High School, Pottsville and graduated in 1979 from Penn State University, State College, PA, with a B.S. degree in Science. While at Penn State's Schuylkill Campus, he played golf and soccer for the university. James enjoyed sports, photography, golf, was a Penn State fan and especially enjoyed gardening. He was a coach for youth baseball, soccer and basketball and was active on many levels of the boy scouts.
In addition to his wife, Donna, and his father, James is survived by his three sons, James R. Corson, Husband of Holly J. (Shepps) Corson, Frederick, MD, Andrew M. Corson, Middletown, CT, and Matthew S. Corson, husband of Ashley L. (DuCoin) Corson, Blandon. He is also survived by his grandson, Everett M. Corson and his sisters Deborah A. (Corson) wife of Harry Charowsky, North Bend, WA and Kathryn C. (Corson) wife of Hubert Seemann, Bally, PA.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, March 27, 2015 at 10:00 am at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, 14833 Kutztown Rd, Kutztown with the Rev. Msgr. Walter T. Scheaffer as celebrant. Viewings will be held Thursday evening, March 26, 2015 from 6 to 8 pm and again on Friday, March 27, 2015 from 8:15 to 9:15 am at Walbert Funeral Home & Cremation Services, PC, 14390 Kutztown Rd, Fleetwood. Interment with Military Honors will be in Gethsemane Cemetery, Laureldale. In addition to flowers, contributions may be made in Jame's memory to St. Mary's RC Church, Kutztown.
