James R. Ostrander, 72, of Blandon, passed away on Friday, March 1, 2019 at Penn State Health, St. Joseph Medical Center, Bern Township.
Born July 17, 1946 in Brooklyn, New York, he was the son of the late Erma (Cashman) and Charles Ostrander. He and his wife of 52 years, Patricia A. (Cudney) Ostrander, were married on November 5, 1966 in Bethpage, New York.
James served his country honorably and faithfully in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.
James was a Sergeant with the Nassau County Police Department, serving and protecting his community for over 21 years. He was a member of the Police Benevolence Assocation and the Superior Officers Association. He graduated from Bethpage High School in 1964 and the Nassau County Police Academy in 1969. He enjoyed reading and loved all things hockey, especially collecting hockey cards and his beloved New York Islanders.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Patricia, are his two children, Christy L. (Ostrander) Rebehn, wife of Mark J. Rebehn, Orwigsburg, and James R. Ostrander, Jr., husband of Min Ostrander, Oyster Bay, NY.
Services for James will be private.
