James T. Picone, 57, of Kutztown, passed away on Thursday, April 20, 2017 at Hackensack Medical Center, Hackensack, NJ.
Born December 20, 1959 in Jersey City, NJ, he was the son of John F. Picone, Wood-Ridge, NJ and the late Genevieve M. (Jodice) Picone. He and his wife of 32 years, Patricia Dee (Wechezak) Picone, were married on May 20, 1984 at the Allentown College of St. Francis de Sales.
Jim was Director of Automotive Battery Process and Application Engineering for East Penn Manufacturing Co., Inc., Lyons, having worked there since 1984. Prior to that, Jim was a supervisor at the Bachman Company, Reading, PA.
Jim was a longtime football coach in Kutztown. He spent many years coaching in the Kutztown Youth Football program and then became the head coach of the Kutztown Middle School football team. He volunteered for many years for KuBOK Neighborhood Watch, Kutztown.
Jim was a 1978 graduate of Weehawkin High School and went on to graduate from the Allentown College of St. Francis de Sales with a bachelor of science degree in chemistry. Jim was a member of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Kutztown.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Patti, are his two children, DeeAnn M. (Picone) Taylor, wife of Randy W. Taylor, Kenhorst and Derek M. Picone at home. He is also survived by "His Little Honey", his granddaughter Avri, his brothers, Steven J. Picone, husband of Amy L. (Colantino) Picone, Hanover Twp, PA and John D. Picone, husband of Linda A. (Cambria) Picone, Naples, FL and by his sister, Lisa M. (Picone) Basile, wife of Russell C. Basile, Wood-Ridge, NJ.
Funeral Services for Jim will be held on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at 7:00 pm at Walbert Funeral Home & Cremation Services, PC, 14390 Kutztown Rd, Fleetwood, PA. A viewing will be held Tuesday from 3:00 to 7:00 pm at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Bethlehem Special Olympics, 894 Marcon Blvd, Ste 114, Allentown, PA 18109.
