Jean K. DeTurk

Jean K. (Delp) DeTurk, 82, of Fleetwood, passed away on Monday, August 17, 2015 at the Reading Hospital.

Born March 28, 1933 in Fleetwood, she was the daughter of the late Lester and Lizzie (Faust) Delp. She and her husband, Gerald C. DeTurk, were married in Fleetwood on June 9, 1956. They celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary on June 9, 2015.

Jean was a Charter Member and Past President of the Blandon Lioness Club. She was their 1st Lioness of the Year. She also was the First Lady of Lions International District 14P when her husband, Gerald, was the District Governor. Jean was active with the Blandon Senior Citizens and assisted her husband for the past 15 years as their trip coordinator.

Jean had worked for the Arrow Shirt Factory, Fleetwood as a floor girl and had also worked as a button sewer for Katos in Kutztown. She was a lifelong member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Fleetwood and a member of the Fleetwood Senior Citizens. Jean was a 1951 graduate of Fleetwood Area High School.

In addition to her husband, Gerald, Jean is survived by the following family members; Barbara Ann DeTurk, Sinking Spring, Daryl L. Faust, Fleetwood, Suzette C. (Faust) Brandt, wife of Kevin Brandt, Newville, PA, Hayley Brandt and Kylie Brandt.

Funeral services for Jean will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2015 at 10:30 am at Walbert Funeral Home & Cremation Services, PC, 14390 Kutztown Rd, Fleetwood with the Rev. Andrew J. Stauffer and the Rev. Sara Ann Hertzog officiating. A Viewing will be held from 9 to 10:30 am, Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Fleetwood Cemetery.
