Obituary - John M. Heffner
John M. Heffner, 87, of Richmond Township, passed away on Friday, May 29, 2015 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Known to friends and family as "Red" and "Heffy", John was born August 21, 1927 in Ruscombmanor Township. He was the son of the late Mary E. (Merkel) and John R. Heffner. His wife, the late Alice M. (Schwab) Heffner, died on November 23, 2006. They were married on June 1, 1946 and had celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary prior to her death.
John was a molder for Empire Steel and a mushroom and agricultural farmer for many years. He attended the Ruscombmanor Township "Black Cat" Schoolhouse and was a member of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Kutztown, the Pikeville Sportsman's Club and the Blandon Fire Company.
John is survived by his daughter, Marilyn (Heffner) Neider, widow of Raymond H. Neider, Jr.; sons John S. Heffner, Fleetwood and David A. Heffner, Fleetwood; Granddaughters, Lisa A. Snyder, Wife of Leonard J. Snyder, Denise M. Nolt, wife of Harold Nolt; Tina R. Toso, wife of Gregory Toso; Grandson, John V. Heffner, husband of Denise K. Heffner; Great Granddaughters, Alicia M. Seaman, wife of Brian Seaman, Sherri A. Tomaszewski, wife of Janos Tomaszewski, Stephanie A. Stutzman, wife of Matthew Stutzman, Ashley M. Nolt and Kaitlyn Heffner; Great Grandsons, Tyler R. Nolt; John K. Heffner, Jason B. Heffner, Evan Toso and Brody Toso; Great-Great Granddaughters, Arianna Tomaszewski and Kahlan Seaman and Great-Great Grandson, Ephrem Tomaszewski.
In addition to his wife, Alice and his parents, John was preceded in death by his sister, Pearl Schuler, wife of Charles Schuler and his brothers, Henry M. Heffner, husband of Leona Heffner and Roy M. Heffner, husband of Helen Heffner, Charles M. Heffner and an infant brother.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at 10 am at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, 14833 Kutztown Rd, Kutztown, with Rev. Monsignor Walter T. Scheaffer as celebrant. Viewings will be held on Tuesday, June 2, 2015 from 6 to 8 pm at Walbert Funeral Home & Cremation Services, PC, 14390 Kutztown Rd, Fleetwood and again on Wednesday, June 3, from 9 am until the time of Mass at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church. Burial will follow the mass at Gethsemane Cemetery, Laureldale.
