John C. Hess

John C. Hess, 97, of Topton, passed away on Friday, May 20, 2022 at the Lutheran Home at Topton.

Born March 19, 1925 in Allentown, John was the son of the late Ambrose and Sally (Eshbach) Hess. The love of his life, his wife of 64 years, Betty Mae (Acker) Hess, passed away on December 25, 2014.

John served his country honorably and faithfully as a member of the United States Army during World War II. During his service, he was a member of the U.S. Army Ski Patrol.

John was a mechanic working for over 40 years for Beryllium Corporation, Temple and truly enjoyed golfing.

John is survived by his two sons, Ricky L. Hess, husband of Laura A. (Oswald) Hess, Kempton, and Darren J. Hess, husband of Tina L. (Eck) Hess, Mertztown. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Katie and her husband, Shane, Angie and her husband Jason and Amber, and by his great-grandchildren, Kayla, Haley, Madison, Tyler, Lily and Logan.

Along with his parents and his wife, Betty Mae, John was preceded in death by his 13 brothers and sisters.

Private graveside services and interment will be held for John at Topton Union Cemetery.
