Karl A. Bolognese, 96, of Blandon, passed away at home, surrounded by his loving family, on Wednesday morning, March 2, 2022.
Born February 19, 1926 in Pottstown, he was the son of the late Michael and Anna (Houck) Bolognese. He and the love of his life, his wife of 74 years, Dorothy L., "Dottie" (Bertolet) Bolognese, were married on February 14, 1948 in Fleetwood.
Karl served his country honorably and faithfully as a member of the United States Army during World War II.
Karl was a barber for 55 years at the barber shop on Lancaster Avenue in Shillington. He also worked for 37 years on the assembly line at Prestolite Battery, Reading, for Quaker Maid Kitchens as a custom kitchen maker and for Dolleher Jarvis, Pottstown as a material handler.
Karl was a charter member of the Blandon Lions Club and a member of Trinity Bible Fellowship Church, Blandon where he was active on the finance and food committees. Karl attended the Pottstown School District.
In addition to his wife, Dottie, Karl is survived by his children, Ranae K. (Bolognese) Gillie, wife of Jan Gillie, Blacksburg, VA and Kerry D. Bolognese, husband of Christine (Hardie) Bolognese, Springfield, VA, his grandchildren, Serenity Belo, wife of Louis Belo, Quincy, MA, Noah Gillie, husband of Hannah Gillie, Blacksburg, VA and Nicholas Gillie, husband of Yasmin Gillie, Christianburg, VA, and by his great-grandchildren, Lillian, Amalia and Iona.
Along with his parents, Karl was preceded in death by his brother, Ernest Bolognese and his sister, Violet Siccio.
Funeral services for Karl will be held on Friday, March 11, 2022 at 10:00 am at Trinity Bible Fellowship Church, 220 Main St, Blandon. A viewing will be held Friday from 9:00 am until time of services at the church. Burial will take place in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Reiffton.
