Dr. Kenneth W. Miller, 92, of Wyomissing, formerly of Fleetwood, passed away on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Born January 17, 1926 in Upper Tulpehocken Twp, he was the son of the late Warren L. and Helen (Balthaser) Miller. He and his wife of 68 years, Barbara S. (Schlegel) Miller, were married on September 10, 1949 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Fleetwood.

Dr. Miller was a member of the Greatest Generation, serving his country honorably and faithfully in the United States Army during World War II.

Dr. Miller was a 1943 graduate of Fleetwood Area High School. He went on to Muhlenberg College and the University of Pennsylvania Dental School where he graduated in 1951. He returned to Fleetwood and opened his dental practice in which he served the Fleetwood community until his retirement in 1989.

Dr. Miller was very active in his community. He was a member of Advent Lutheran Church, West Lawn, and a former member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Fleetwood, where he had served on church council. He was a member of the Fleetwood Jaycees and was instrumental in the fluoridation of the Fleetwood Water Supply. He was a member and Past President of the Fleetwood Rotary Club, a member and Past President of the Fleetwood School Board, a member of the Appalachian District Boy Scout Council and had served as a Director at the First National Bank, Fleetwood.

Dr. Miller truly enjoyed his calling in dentistry. He was a member of the Berks Dental Society and spent over 20 years volunteering his time and services to help the residents at the Lutheran Home at Topton. He enjoyed over 50 years of fishing trips to Canada and many years of summer vacations in the Poconos with his family. He also loved to travel, especially with the family travel trailer.

Dr. Miller was honored as a Distinguished Alumnus by the Fleetwood Area School District for his service to the community and philanthropy. They honored his dedication to the improvement of the quality of life for others, his education of the community about the importance of fluoridating the water supply, his service on the Fleetwood School Board, his financial support of many worthwhile causes and for his support of other dentists in establishing new practices in the community.

In addition to his wife, Barbara, Dr. Miller is survived by his three sons, Dr. Martin F. Miller, husband of Crystal K. (Meitzler) Miller, Fleetwood, Thomas A. Miller, Esquire, husband of Barbara S. (Seebers) Miller, Houston, TX and Peter W. Miller, husband of Kimberley F. (Lynch) Miller, Fleetwood. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Taryn Miller, Leslie Christman, wife of Jared Christman, Emily Miller, Jessica Miller, Stephanie Miller and Sarah Miller, his step-grandchildren, Matthew R. Spilker, husband of Gina (Laudato) Spilker, Nicole F. Spilker and Bradley R. Spilker, husband of Chandra (Carey) Spilker, his great-grandchildren, Ella and Chase Christman, his step-great-grandchildren, Madison Craft, Jackson Craft, Kennadi McClung, Brooklyn Spilker, Ashlyn Spilker and Robert Spilker, and by his siblings, Warren G. Miller, husband of Jane Miller, Lititz, Barry L. Miller, husband of Carol Miller, McMurray, PA and Nancy A. Seidel, widow of Raymond Seidel, Kutztown.

Along with his parents, Dr. Miller was preceded in death by his sister, Ethel Schlegel and his brother, Donald Miller.

A Memorial Service for Dr. Miller will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at 10:00 am at The Highlands of Wyomissing, 2000 Cambridge Ave, Wyomissing, PA, with Rev. Mark R. Rigg, officiating. Inurnment with Military Honors will be private in the St. Paul's Union Memorial Columbarium, Fleetwood. A visitation will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2018 from 9:00 am to 10:00 am at The Highlands.
