Lillian J. (Jennings) Greer, 86, of Allentown, passed away on Tuesday, January 28, 2020 in Allentown, PA.
Born July 13, 1933 in Greenville, South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Ruby (Ayers) and Spencer H. Jennings. Her husband of 37 years, Joe E. Greer, passed away on April 3, 1989.
Lillian worked as a secretary for a professor in the science department at Clemson University. She was also a receptionist at real estate offices and other small businesses as well as at the Country Day School in Savannah, GA. Lillian worked as a hairdresser in Atlanta at the
JC Penny’s and the Beauty Coral. She spent time as a receptionist for the Republican Party in DeKalb County, GA and even did hair for ladies overseas in Saudi Arabia.
Lillian was a past member at Poe Mill Baptist Church, Greenville, SC, Windsor Forest Baptist Church, Savannah, GA and Peachtree Baptist Church, Atlanta, GA. She loved ballroom and square dancing, round dancing, traveling and reading. She was a graduate of Parker High School, Greenville, SC, Draughon’s Business School, Savannah, GA and the Georgia School of Cosmetology, Atlanta, GA.
Lillian is survived by her daughter, Karen E. (Greer) Clary, wife of Gil Clary, Lower Macungie Township, PA, her son, Larry J. Greer, Gainesville, GA, her grandchildren, Jacqueline G. Clary, Arlington, VA, Noel S. Clary, St. Paul, MN, Faith M. (Greer) Vogler, wife of Spencer Vogler, Mesa, AZ and Cristin M. (Greer) Vinson, wife of Allen Vinson, Atlanta, GA. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Marshall L. Vogler, Conner W. Vogler, Pearl R. Vinson, Sebastian B. Vinson, by her siblings, Curlie Jennings, husband of Brenda Jennings, Barbara Stacey and Spencer Jennings, spouse of John Johnson, by her sister-in-law, Betty Jennings, widow of Richard Jennings, and by her step-sister, Linda Brooks.
Along with her husband and her parents, Lillian was preceded in death by her brother, Richard Jennings and stepmother, Vera.
Graveside funeral services for Lillian will be held at 1:30 pm on Thursday, February 6, 2020 at Arlington Memorial Park, 201 Mt. Vernon Highway, Sandy Springs, GA. The Celebration of Life for Lillian will continue at 2:30 pm at the Trinity Center for Spiritual Living, 1095 Zonolite Rd, NE #100, Atlanta, GA 30306.
