Mrs. Linda E.G. (Gottschall) Madeira, 76, of Fleetwood, passed away on Saturday, August 24, 2024 at her home.
Born February 21, 1948 in Reading, she was the daughter of the late Anna Mae (Yohn) and Stanley Gottschall. Her husband of 45 years, Kenneth H. Madeira, passed away on April 1, 2024.
Linda worked as a secretary for Roadway, Inc. and Allentown Cement Company. Her greatest love was breeding and showing her Belgian Sheepdogs. Linda won many awards with her dogs and was very active with therapy dogs. She spent many years training therapy dogs, visiting nursing homes with the dogs and helping others to care for their dogs. She served as President of the Berks County Kennel Club and was an active member of the Federated Sportsmen Clubs of Berks County.
Linda was a member of Trinity Bible Fellowship Church, Blandon, where she volunteered with the ladies auxiliary, helping to cook and serve for many church functions, and truly enjoyed playing piano in church. She was a graduate of Reading High School and was an accomplished pistol and rifle shooter and adored her horses.
Linda is survived by her son, Michael L. Simmons, companion of Janelle Fenstermacher, Fleetwood, her step-children, Linda J. Schiaroli, Lancaster, Dale K. Madeira, Oley, Kerry A. Madeira, husband of Karen L. (Gerhart) Madeira, Lancaster, Kirk C. Madeira, husband of Amy J. (Hopkins) Madeira, Schaefferstown, and Craig A. Madeira, husband of Tracey M. (Friel) Madeira, Holly Ridge, NC. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Melissa, Stephanie, Christopher, Carissa, Nathan, Lauren, Ty Justin, and Chase James, her great-grandchildren, Autumn, Summer, Chase, Kendra, Angie, Gabriella, Emmett and Sullivan, and by her sister, Doris R. (Gottschall) Hassler, widow of William H. Hassler, Shillington.
Along with her husband, Kenneth, she was preceded in death by her sister, Marlene Forrer.
Funeral Services for Linda will be held on Friday, August 30, 2024 at 10:00 am at Trinity Bible Fellowship Church, 220 Main Street, Blandon, with Pastor Carl Fisher and Pastor Dan Williams, officiating. Burial will follow in Berks County Memorial Gardens, Maidencreek Township.
A visitation will be held Friday from 9:00 am until time of services at the church.
