Linford J. "Jack" Schittler, 87, of Fleetwood, passed away on Sunday morning, June 5, 2022 at the St. Francis Home, Shillington.
Born December 15, 1934 in Fleetwood, he was the son of the late Merlan and Sarah (Ernst) Schittler. He and the love of his life, his wife, Joyce A. (Hinkle) Schittler, were married on October 15, 1960 at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Fleetwood.
Jack served his country honorably and faithfully as a member of the United States Navy.
Jack was a brick mason all of his life. He worked for Kramer and Shade, Fleetwood, and for over 20 years in the "Brick Gang" at Carpenter Technology, working to line brick furnaces. Jack was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Fleetwood, where he was a Sunday School teacher and a member of the church council.
Jack was a 1954 graduate of Fleetwood Area High School. He served several terms on the Fleetwood Area School Board and also was a member of the Breakfast Brothers and the Fraternal Order of Orioles, Fleetwood Nest #23. Jack loved golfing and spending time with his family.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Joyce, are his two children, Mark A. Schettler, husband of Susan M. (Decker) Schettler, Millersville, and Beth A. (Schittler) Endy, wife of Barry L. Endy, Muhlenberg Township. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Harrison, Elizabeth, Peyton and Mary, and by his sister, Lorraine Schlegel, wife of Alan Schlegel, Fleetwood.
Along with his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his brothers, Merlan Jr. and Larry.
Funeral Services for Jack will be held on Thursday, June 9, 2022 at 2:00 pm at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 117 E. Arch St, Fleetwood, PA. A visitation will be held for Jack on Thursday from 1:00 pm until time of services at the church. Burial will follow the services in St. Paul's Union Cemetery, Fleetwood.
