Lucas M. Torres

Lucas M. Torres, 78, of Mertztown, passed away on Monday, October 9, 2023, surrounded by his loving family, at his home.

Born October 18, 1944 in Orocovis, Puerto Rico, he was the son of the late Cristina (Barreto) and Juan Torres. He and his wife of 56 years, Darlene F. (Ohlinger) Torres, were married on December 17, 1966 at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Kutztown.

Lucas worked for 15 years as a wood finisher at Boyertown Casket Company. He then went on to work for over 37 years at East Penn Manufacturing Company, Inc. Lucas loved NASCAR and wrestling. Most of all, Lucas loved spending time with his family.

Surviving in addition to his wife, Darlene, Lucas is survived by his son. Lucas M. Torres, Jr., husband of Kelly L. Torres, Topton, his grandsons, Dakota Heffner and William Torres, and his great-granddaughter, Ella Marie. He is also survived by his sister, Emerita Torres, Muhlenberg Township and by his brother, Maximo Torres, husband of Linda Torres, Fleetwood.

Along with his parents, Lucas was preceded in death by his daughter, Susan F. (Torres) Heffner, his grandson, Colton J. "C.J." Heffner, his brothers, Natividad, Ramon, Juan Jr., and Angel.

Services for Lucas will be held privately by his family.
