Mrs. Luna V. (Parmele) Pearson-Ceuleers

Mrs. Luna V. (Parmele) Pearson-Ceuleers, 99, of Richmond Township, passed away on Friday, October 22, 2021, surrounded by her loving family.

Born November 30, 1921 in Manhattan, New York, she was the daughter of the late Lyda (Hitchner) Parmele and James Savino. Luna was married to Albert F. Pearson, who passed away on October 21, 1965 and Richard J. Ceuleers, who passed away on April 1, 1978.

Luna was an insurance broker at the Pearson Agency, which she owned with her husband, Albert. She was also a private pilot and flew her plane named, Luna Star.

Luna was a member of the Central United Methodist Church, Linwood, NJ, where she was an active member of the Martha Circle. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star of New Jersey, Pitman Chapter #57, Pitman, NJ as a "Rainbow Girls". Luna was a 1939 graduate of Pitman High School, where she coached field hockey and was the editor of of the school paper The Dart, and a member of the Girls Glee Club. Then she went on to attend the University of Pennsylvania Nursing School. Throughout her entire life Luna created memories with family and friends in her beloved Stone Harbor, NJ; where she taught the family to have wonderful traditions binding generations together.

Luna was a truly special woman who many people around the world knew as "DeeDee" and "Momma Luna". For many, she had the loving hands that made bandages for soldiers during World War II, a loving and caring woman who made blankets for Tender Loving Hands, and organizations that assisted patients suffering from cancer and often times, for many, a surrogate mother. Luna was honored by the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia with the Lifetime Achievement Award.

Luna is survived by her four daughters, Lyda E. "Bunny" Pearson, Hamburg, Lonna P. (Pearson) Treichler, wife of Rodney J. Treichler, Hamburg, Nancy G. (Ceuleers) Gibson, wife of Alan K. Gibson, Northfield, NJ, and Lorna Mae (Pearson) McMahon, Kutztown. She is also survived by her son-in-law, Claudio Olivieri, Richmond Township, her grandchildren, Gaddo Olivieri and his wife, Fatima Hassan, Luna H. McMahon, Melissa M. Quigley and her husband, Robert Quigley, and Jared A. Treichler and his wife, Cynthia Treichler, and by her great-grandchildren, Trevor, Tyler, Ava and Mia.

Private services will be held for Luna by her family. Burial will take place in Chestnut Grove Cemetery, Elmer, NJ.
