Mrs. Margaret M. (Morris) Apostolos-Peters, 93, of Kutztown, passed away on Wednesday, November 13, 2024 at Tower Health, Reading Hospital, West Reading, PA.
Born April 5, 1931 in Salisbury, Maryland, Margaret was the daughter of the late Jason A. and Dora (Gordy) Morris. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Paul Apostolos, on August 21, 1997 and by her second husband, Bruce P. Peters, Sr., on October 27, 2019.
Margaret worked as a librarian at Kutztown University from 1970 to 2001. Prior to Kutztown University, Margaret worked as a bookkeeper for Salisbury National Bank, Salisbury, MD, before working as a librarian at the Eastern Shore Book Processing Center, Salisbury, MD, and at Owosso College, Owosso, Michigan. She was a member of Beta Phi Mu, the Honor Society in Library Science, Kappa Delta Pi, the Honor Society in Education, the American Library Association, the Pennsylvania Library Association and the Delaware Valley Chapter of Association of College and Research Libraries.
Margaret had an extensive education beginning with her graduation from Wicomico High School, Salisbury, MD, in 1948. She attended Eastern Pilgrim College, Allentown, followed by Kutztown State College where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Education and Library Science. She went on to receive her Master of Science in Library Science from Syracuse University School of Library Science, Syracuse, NY in 1966. Between 1966 and 1975, Margaret took additional courses at Owosso College, Kutztown State College and Syracuse University to further her education. She earned her final degree, a Master of Science in Education, from Temple University, Philadelphia, in 1978.
Margaret is survived by her step-children, Catherine R. (Peters) Bortz, wife of Ronald L. Bortz, Sr., Kutztown, Bruce P. Peters, Jr., Conshohocken, Susan R. Peters, Kutztown, Barbara M. (Peters) Castaneda, Fogelsville, and Joseph H. Peters, husband of Sandra A. (Bleiler) Peters, Pittstown, PA. She is also survived by her step-grandchildren, Alyssa, Elizabeth, Ashleigh, Jason, Anthony, Angel and Joseph, her step-great-grandchildren, Regina, Gabriel, Jacob, Brehson, and Jeremy.
In addition to her parents and her two husbands, Margaret was preceded in death by her siblings, Loran Howard Morris, Mildred Morris Adkins, Margie Morris and Mabel Morris.
Funeral Services for Margaret will be held on Tuesday evening, November 19, 2024 at 7:00 pm at Walbert Funeral Home & Crematory, 14390 Kutztown Road, Fleetwood, PA. A viewing will be held on Tuesday evening, from 6:00 to 7:00 pm, at the funeral home.
Burial will take place in Wicomico Memorial Park, Salisbury Maryland.
