Marie Thea (Roth) Youngken, 80, of Orange City, Florida, passed to eternal life on Monday, January 8, 2024, at the home of her son, Ted, with her loving family around her.
Born October 22, 1943, in Hoboken, NJ, Marie was the daughter of the late August and Theresa (Bosch) Roth.
Marie was a graduate of Stroudsburg High School and went on to receive her bachelor's and master's degrees in education from East Stroudsburg University. She was an associate professor at Daytona State College, Daytona, FL, and taught 6th grade at Deltona Middle School, Deltona, FL.
Marie and Mumi, her doggy, had volunteered for Gateway Center of the Arts, Debary, FL, and also enjoyed meeting for music night at the Osteen Inn. Marie always found it rewarding engaging in her community through fellowship with her friends in Florida through church and social gatherings.
Marie is survived by her three children, C. Edward "Ted" Owens, Jr., husband of Mary Ann (Weyer) Owens, Hamburg, Christopher B. Owens, husband of Melissa M. (O'Neill) Owens, East Stroudsburg, and Theresia M.E. "Traci" (Owens) Van Eik, wife of Marc Van Eik, Middletown, PA. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Brody, Garret, Jesse, Olivia, Kaitlyn and her husband, Rick, Wyatt, Lucas and Bryce, and her great-grandchildren, Anna, and Bradley.
Along with her parents, Marie was preceded in death by her son, Bruce Owens, and her brother, Larry Roth.
Services for Marie will be private.
