Mary A. (Hensinger) Smith, 83, of Fleetwood, passed away on Friday morning, February 4, 2022 at Penn State Health, St. Joseph Medical Center, Bern Township.
Born December 11, 1938 in Allentown, she was the daughter of the late Wilbur and Pearl A. (Meitzler) Hensinger. Her husband of 63 years, Kenneth C. Smith, Sr., passed away on April 2, 2020.
Mary worked for Great American Knitting Mill, Bally, and a few other manufacturers, doing sewing and knitting. She also was a nurses aide at Leader Home, Pottstown and Kutztown Manor and a supervisor at Harness House Belt Factory, New Berlinville. She attended school in Alburtis and Emmaus.
Mary was a longtime member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Fleetwood, where she was active in volunteering. She also enjoyed coloring, doing crossword puzzles, reading and watching TV.
Mary is survived by her children, Kenneth C. Smith Jr., husband of Arlene (Nesbit) Smith, Ocala, FL, and Cheryl R. (Smith) Young, wife of Robert D. Young, Fleetwood. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Amie, Nicole, Tami, Lauren, Kenneth III, her great-grandchildren, Kirsten, Sierra, Alexis, Aleya, Michael, Anjali, Sarah, Lars and Noah, a great-great granddaughter on the way, and by her siblings, Ronald, Brenda, Nancy, Audrey and Jeffrey.
Along with her parents and her husband, Ken, Mary was preceded in death by her son, Kevin R. Smith and by her siblings, Richard, Barry, Gene, Barbara and Gloria.
A memorial service for Mary will be held on Saturday, July 30, 2022 at 2:00 pm at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 117 E. Arch St. Fleetwood. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery, Molltown.
