Philipp J. "Papa Smurf" Ziegler, II, 73, of Saylorsburg, PA, passed away suddenly on Monday morning, February 13, 2017 at Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg, PA.
Born November 15, 1943 in Paoli, PA, he was the son of the late Philipp J. and Katie (Balle) Ziegler, and the husband of Carol I. (Ingram) Ziegler.
Phil worked throughout his life as a die setter in steel fabrication. He worked for over 25 years for Penco Steel, Oaks and had also worked for Allenwood Steel, Conshocken and Hubbell Lighting, Bristol. He was a member of the Reading Motorcycle Club for more than 20 years, the steel workers union and A.B.A.T.E. of Pennsylvania.
Phil served his country honorably and faithfully as a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps in the Vietnam War.
In addition to his wife, Phil is survived by his children, Dawn E. Ziegler, Auburndale, FL, Philipp J. Ziegler, III, Exeter Twp, Scott B. Ziegler, husband of Patti A. (Maguire) Ziegler, Birdsboro, and Dorothy McKay, wife of Stephen McKay, Bristol, PA. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Sarina, Skylar, Scott, Lillian, Sandra and Stephen and his sister, Kathryn "Kitty" (Ziegler) Hartman, wife of Joseph Hartman, Columbus, NJ.
Funeral Services for Phil will be held on Friday, February 17, 2017 at 7:00 pm at Walbert Funeral Home & Cremation Services, PC, 14390 Kutztown Rd, Fleetwood, beginning with Military Honors rendered by the United States Marine Corps. Phil's funeral service will follow military honors with Rev. Gary L. Walbert officiating. A viewing will be held Friday, February 17, 2017 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the funeral home.
