Ray G. Creitz, 79, of Shoemakersville, formerly of Kutztown, passed away on Thursday, January 11, 2018 at his home.
Born August 12, 1938 in Kutztown, PA, he was the son of the late Paul F. and Sophie L. (Miller) Creitz.
Ray served his country honorably and faithfully in the United States Army. He was a 1956 graduate of Kutztown Area High School.
Ray was a longtime rural mail carrier for the US Postal Service, working out of the Fleetwood Post Office. He also worked for many years in the banking industry. He served as Trustee for the Farmers Bank of Kutztown.
Ray also owned and operated The Loft in Kutztown which was a popular for art supplies, paintings and crafts. Ray was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Kutztown and the American Legion. He was a co-founder of the Kutztown Area Historical Society and truly enjoyed his walks along the Ontelaunee Dam.
Ray is survived by his family, Linda A. (Crist) Paine, wife of Mark T. Paine, Shoemakersville, and their daughter, Sophie M. Paine. He was preceded in death by his brother, Larry D. Creitz.
Funeral Services for Ray will be held on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at 11:00 am at Walbert Funeral Home & Cremation Services, PC, 14390 Kutztown Rd, Fleetwood, PA with Rev. Gary L. Walbert, officiating. A visitation will be held Wednesday from 10:00 to 11:00 am at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at Zion Moselem Lutheran Cemetery, Richmond Township, with full military honors provided by the United States Army Reserve Honor Guard, Indiantown Gap, and the Honor Guard of the American Legion, Ray A. Master Post #217, Topton.
