Richard E. Leiby, 72, of Fleetwood, passed away on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, Philadelphia, PA.
Born December 22, 1952 in Allentown, Richard was the son of the late Edwin H. and Joyce L. (Dietrich) Leiby. Richard and the love of his life, his wife with whom he just celebrated his 50th wedding anniversary, Marlene M. (Ohlinger) Leiby, were married on November 16, 1974 in Hope Lutheran Church, Lyons.
Richard grew up in Lyons Station and was a 1970 graduate of Kutztown Area High School. He worked for the Kutztown Publishing Company for over 35 years and also worked at Ingram Industries in Fogelsville. Richard was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Fleetwood, and a member of the GCC/IBT Local 4C Union for over 50 years.
Richard enjoyed being a weekend warrior, bowling and playing basketball in his youth. He loved to golf and always looked forward to his yearly Pocono Golf Outing. Richard was a tough nut to crack, aka a little stubborn, but if you knew him, you knew he was a kind soul. He was the oldest 12 year old boy that Marlene ever knew. His dry humor always had his family and friends laughing and shaking their heads.
Most of all, Richard absolutely loved his grandchildren and being involved with their lives. Every one of them will surely miss their Pops.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Marlene, are his children, Rebecca J. Leiby, Sacramento, CA, Sarah A. (Leiby) James, wife of Derek E. James, Shoemakersville, Darian J. Leiby, companion of James B. Kelly, Harrisburg, and Dakotah T. Famalaro, Bristol, PA. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Dalton Leiby, Seth James, Evelyn James, Nevaeh Feliciano, and Rayne Kotsch, his sister, Barbara (Leiby) Keim, wife of Glenn Keim, Walnuttown, and by his favorite furry girl, Maggie.
Along with his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his grandson, Dayton Leiby.
