Richard C. "Lefty" Oswald

Richard C. "Lefty" Oswald, 82, of Topton, passed away on Sunday, July 12, 2015 at home with his loving family.

Born June 26, 1933 in West Reading, he was a son of the late Beulah M. (Hilbert) and Elmer W. Oswald. He and the love of his life, his wife, Barbara Ann (Reinert) Oswald celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary on August 23, 2014.

Lefty was a Lining Foreman for El-Chem, Emmaus, for over 40 years retiring in 1998. He then worked in Topton as a Crossing Guard for the Brandywine Area School District for 17 years. Lefty attended the Longswamp Schools. He was a member of St. Peter's UCC Church, Topton, the Perry Township Game Association, the Kempton Rod & Gun Club, the Pike Township Sportman's Association and a Life Member of the North American Hunting Club. Lefty was an avid hunter and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Lefty is survived by four children, SueAnn (Oswald) Siler, wife of Jake Siler, Buchanan, VA, Deborah L. (Oswald) Moyer, wife of Ricky Moyer, Mertztown, David P. Oswald, husband of Carol L. (Cassidy) Oswald, Fleetwood and Ann Louise (Oswald) Manmiller, wife of John R. Manmiller, Fleetwood. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Stephany, Anthony, Corey, Christian and Tyler; his great-grandchildren Hunter, Skye, Taylor, Kassidy, Lucas, Frankie and Chonn and by his sister, Faye (Oswald) Rohrbach, Kutztown.

Lefty was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert, Ray, John, George and Charles Oswald and his sisters, Betty (Oswald) Hilbert and Beulah (Oswald) Bogert.

Memorial Services for Lefty will be held at 11 am Saturday, July 18, at Walbert Funeral Home & Cremation Services, PC, 14390 Kutztown Rd, Fleetwood, with the Rev. Gary L. Walbert, officiating. A visitation will be held from 10 to 11 am at the funeral home.
