Richard H. "Shorty" Lord, 84, of Keystone Villa, Blandon, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 9, 2023.
Born May 13, 1939 in Reading, he was the son of the late Anna V. (Schupp) and Henry W. Lord. His wife of 53 years, Nancy L. (Hess) Lord, passed away on November 10, 2014.
Shorty served his country honorably and faithfully as a member of the United States Navy.
Shorty drove truck for 42 years for New Penn Motor Express. He was a member of the Teamsters for 42 years and a life member of the Pike Township Sportsman's Association, Oley. He truly enjoyed fishing and watching his Pittsburgh Steelers.
Shorty is survived by his three children, Boyd H. Lord, Lincoln, Delaware, Brenda L. (Lord) Hower, wife of Richard C. Hower, Albrightsville, and Cheryl A. Lord, companion of Glenn A. Graff, Kempton. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Andrew R. Smith, husband of Ashley Smith, Lenhartsville, Amanda M. Heiter, wife of Elijah Heiter, New Tripoli, Allyson L. Kerchner, wife of Jon Kerchner, Hamburg, Austin R. Swavely, Kutztown, and Alexis B. Swavely, Kempton, his great-grandchildren, Carli, Dana, Leah and Reuben, and his sisters, Ardelle Master and Cookie Lord.
In addition to his parents and his wife, Nancy, Shorty was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Jeanette McNeill, Ronald Lord, Raymond Lord, Anna Viola Henry, Margaret Knarr, Georgeann Gaynor, and Earl Drupp Jr.
Services for Shorty will be held privately. Inurnment will take place with Nancy at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
