Rita G. Moyer

Rita G. (Birnbaum) Moyer, 102, of Leesport, passed away on Monday, June 5, 2017 at Berks Heim, Bern Township.

Born February 9, 1915 in Brooklyn, NY, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Sarah (Herbach) Birnbaum. Her husband of 48 years, Wayne L. Moyer, passed away on August 29, 1982.

Rita worked for many years for Korvettes Furniture as a secretary doing clerical work. She graduated high school in Brooklyn, NY and loved knitting, crocheting and reading.

Rita is survived by her son, Martin J. Moyer, widower of Geraldine (LoPorta) Moyer, Little Egg Harbor, NJ, a daughter, Diane H. (Moyer) Scalia, wife of Mannie Scalia, Fleetwood, her grandchildren, Donna, Denise, Jeanene, John, Anthony, Kathy, Cyndi and John, 20 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren.

Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Lily DeCastro and a brother, Harry Birnbaum.

Private Funeral Services for Rita will be held at Walbert Funeral Home, Fleetwood. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Exeter Twp.
