Dr. Robinson G. Fry, 90, of Allentown, PA and Bar Harbor, ME, passed away on Sunday, January 10, 2021, surrounded by his loving family, at Lehigh Valley Hospital, In-Patient Hospice, Allentown, PA.

Born September 3, 1930 in Milton, PA, Dr. Fry was the son of the late Eugene R. and Hilda M. (Robinson) Fry. He and the love of his life, his wife of 65 years, Mrs. Frances J. (Jahn) Fry, were married on June 25, 1955 in Muncy, PA.

Dr. Fry dedicated his life to the medical profession and to his family. He cared for countless patients in his many years of service as well as furthering the education of many doctors. Only slightly more important than his dedication to medicine, was the love of his family. Dr. Fry adored his beautiful bride, and together, they were blessed with three daughters and seven grandchildren. Spending time with his family was his greatest joy.

Dr. Fry was a graduate of Hollidaysburg High School. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in 1952 from Ursinus College and went on to graduate in 1956 from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Fry completed his Internship from 1956 to 1957, followed by his General Surgery Residency from 1957 to 1960, both at Allentown Osteopathic Medical Center. He became Board Certified in General Surgery in 1969 and a Fellow in the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons in 1973.

During his many years of practicing medicine, Dr. Fry served in various locations. He was an attending surgeon at St. Luke’s Hospital, Allentown, St. Luke’s Hospital, Bethlehem, Sacred Heart Hospital, Muhlenberg Hospital Center and Gnaden Huetten Memorial Hospital and also taught as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery, Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Dr. Fry was sought after for positions of leadership throughout his career in medicine. He was Chief, Section of General Surgery and Senior Attending Surgeon, Resident Trainer, and Chairman, Department of Surgery, all at Allentown Osteopathic Medical Center. He also served as Chairman, Discipline of General Surgery, American College of Osteopathic Medicine, Vice-Chairman and Member, American Osteopathic Board of Surgery, Member, Board of Governors of the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons and President of the Pennsylvania Osteopathic Medical Association.

Dr. Fry was President, Board of Trustees of Alumni Association of the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, Member, Board of Trustees, Allentown Osteopathic Medical Center, Chairman of Staff, Allentown Osteopathic Medical Center, Member, American Osteopathic Association of Delegates, Vice-Chairman, Community Systems, Inc. and President, Lehigh Valley Osteopathic Society.

He also held memberships with Rotary International in Emmaus and Bar Harbor, ME.

Dr. Fry was a member of Bar Harbor Congregational Church, Bar Harbor, ME and truly enjoyed playing tennis, woodworking, sailing, hiking, photography, baking bread, cooking and fine wine and food. He loved learning and spent time enjoying nature. He was active with the Friends of Acadia and Acadia Senior College. One of his greatest loves was for his dogs and he was surely greeted in heaven by his favorite golden retriever, Rufus.

Dr. Fry will be greatly missed by many people, but none more than his loving family. In addition to his wife, Frances, he is survived by his three daughters, Robin A. (Fry) Davies, wife of Clifford O. Davies, Plymouth, MI, Kathi F. (Fry) Ramsdell, wife of Daniel R. Ramsdell, Zionsville, PA and Dr. Jennefer F. (Fry) Gehringer and Allen L. Gehringer, Hamburg.
