Ronald L. Rhoads

Ronald L. Rhoads, 86, of Mertztown, passed away on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at Penn State Health, St. Joesph Medical Center, Bern Township, PA.

Born March 14, 1937, in Leesport, Ron was the son of the late Edward and Ivy (Berg) Rhoads. He and the love of his life, his wife of 61 years, Gladys J. (Harding) Rhoads, were married on August 4, 1962, at St. John's Gernant's Church, Leesport.

Ron served his country honorably and faithfully as a member of the United States Army Reserve.

Ron worked as a parts clerk at Caloric for over 30 years and was a past member of St. John's Gernant's Church, Leesport. He was a graduate of Fleetwood Area High School and attended the Reading Business School. Ron truly enjoyed camping and fishing and will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Surviving in addition to his wife, Gladys, are his children, Maurie D. Rhoads, husband of Kim (Sunday) Rhoads, Fleetwood, and Melissa A. (Rhoads) Blassingame, wife of Keith Blassingame, Merritt Island, Florida. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Paul Blassingame and Alissa Blassingame and by his great-grandchildren, Liberty, and Cayden.

Along with his parents, Ron was preceded in death by his sister, Joy Dickinson.

Memorial Services for Ron will be held on Tuesday, August 22, 2023, at 7:00 pm at Walbert Funeral Home & Crematory, 14390 Kutztown Rd, Fleetwood. A visitation will be held from 6:00 pm until the time of services at the funeral home.
