Ronald P. Hess Sr.

Ronald P. Hess, Sr., 73, of Kutztown,passed away, surrounded by his loving family, on Tuesday, January 24, 2023 at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township, PA.

Born March 19, 1949 in West Reading, he was the son of the late Alfred J. and Lulu M. (Manmiller) Hess. His former wife, Patricia A. Hess, passed away on January 17, 2023.

Ron served his country honorably and faithfully as a Specialist in the United States Army duing the Vietnam War.

Ron worked for over 56 years as a heavy equipment operator at Lehigh Heidelburg Cement Company, Evansville. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Dryville, the Fraternal Order of Eagles #839, Kutztown, the Ray A. Master Post #217, American Legion, Topton, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #9262, Macungie.

Ron attended Fleetwood School District and loved Nascar racing, dirt track racing, casinos and golfing. Most of all, Ron loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his son, daughter-in-law, and grandchildren. He truly cherished his time watching Jake at his baseball games and Rachael at her swimming and water polo matches.

Ron is survived by his son, Ronald P. Hess, Jr., husband of Susan L. (Youse) Hess, Blandon, his grandson, Jacob N. Hess, his granddaughter, Rachael S. Hess, his brothers and sisters, Evelyn M. Kline, wife of Barry L. Kline, Dryville, Walter J. Hess, husband of Jessie J. Hess, Kutztown, and Robert A. Hess, husband of Kim J. Hess, Coeur-d-Alene, Idaho, and by many nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, and his former wife, Patricia, Ron was preceded in death by his grandson, Nathan R. Hess, and his brother, Daniel A. Hess.

Memorial Services for Ron will be held on Friday evening, January 27, 2023 at 7:00 pm at Walbert Funeral Home & Crematory, 14390 Kutztown Rd, Fleetwood, PA. A visitation will be held Friday from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the funeral home.

Burial with full military honors will be held at a later date at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA.
