Roy E. DeLay

Roy E. DeLay son, Veteran, husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather passed away suddenly and quite unexpectedly on Monday afternoon, April 15, 2024.

He was the son of Roy G. and Margaret DeLay, husband of M. Theresa Eagan (deceased, in his terms, for two years and 11 months ), father of Roy (Karen Watchilla), Michael (Janice Rothenberger), and Michele (Scott Schoener), grandfather (PopPop) of Bradley, Chad, Shawn, Katelyn, Alexis, Brooke, Meghan, Ashleigh, and Faith, and great grandfather to Blake.

After graduating from Reading High, he proudly served in the United States Army Third Armored Division Spearhead where his claim to fame was being stationed with Elvis in Friedburg, Germany.

He was a hardworking man who worked at a variety of jobs (one for a day) before starting at G.H. Delp which became Wetterau, and later SuperValu, where he enjoyed running a forklift.

His greatest accomplishment was marrying the love of his life and his family. While he loved his wife and family, he liked clean cars and shiny shoes. He was known for sharing Tic Tacs and candy with others and his work ethic.

He was a man of little to no words but was always listening, so when he had something to say, it was truly worthwhile. He will be greatly missed by all who crossed his path, and forever missed by those who loved him the most.

Per his wishes, there won't be a service. However, in the spirit of his life, listen to those around you, never pass up an opportunity to make money, clean your car, shine your shoes, be kind to others, and follow in his footsteps in the quest of finding the best Italian sandwich.
