Russell J. Neider, 77, of Fleetwood, passed away suddenly on Saturday evening, October 7, 2017 at Penn State Health, St. Joseph Medical Center.
Born April 18, 1940 in Fleetwood, he was the son of the late Harold and Dorothy (Dunkle) Neider. He and his wife of 58 years, Mary Lou (Kriner) Neider, were married on December 13, 1958 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Fleetwood.
Russ worked for Kawecki Chemical and Cabot Corporation, Boyertown for 38 years, last working as a Rolling Mill Supervisor. He had also worked for Acme Markets, stocking shelves and at Snyder's Sunoco, Fleetwood.
Russ was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Fleetwood and the Pike Township Sportsman's Association, Oley. Russ was a member of the Horace M. Kieffer American Legion Post #625, Fleetwood, and Lodge No. 62, Free and Accepted Masons, Reading, PA. He was a 1958 graduate of Fleetwood High School and enjoyed woodworking, photography and loved gardening. Russ loved raising plants native to Pennsylvania and had 72 native species growing in the gardens at his home.
Surviving in addition to the love of his life, Mary Lou, are his two children, Jackie L. (Neider) Gauker, wife of Barry L. Gauker, Richmond Twp., and Russell J. Neider, Jr., husband of Andrea L. (DiFransico) Neider, Reading. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Lee, Amanda and Ava, his great grandchildren, Callie and Samuel, his brother, Steven H. Neider, husband of Joan Neider, Florida and his sister, Nancy A. (Neider) Kasting, Kutztown.
Funeral Services for Russ will be held on Thursday, October 12, 2017 at 11:00 am at Walbert Funeral Home & Cremation Services, PC, 14390 Kutztown Rd, Fleetwood, with Rev. Thomas Lang officiating. Burial will follow in St. Paul's Union Cemetery, Richmond Twp.
A viewing for Russ will be held on Thursday, October 12, 2017 from 9:30 am to 11:00 am at the funeral home.
