Ruth H. Heffner, 83, of Oley Township, passed away on Thursday, September 7, 2023 at her home.
Born March 20, 1940 in Maidencreek Township, she was the daughter of the late Luther and Helen (Moyer) Davis.
Ruth was a 1958 graduate of Fleetwood Area High School. She went on to work at the Fleetwood Shirt Factory for 45 years as a presser. She also spent 10 years as a presser at Paul Frederick, Fleetwood.
Ruth spent her life serving others and volunteering. She was a life member of the Fleetwood Grange #1839. She also was a past Worthy Matron and member for over 30 years of the Eastern Star, East Penn Chapter #336, Kutztown. Ruth was a longtime member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Fleetwood, where she also spent many years teaching Sunday School.
Ruth was an avid collector of marbles and Barbie dolls. She also made over a hundred Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls. Most of all, Ruth loved her family and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.
Ruth is survived by her companion of over 30 years, William W. "Butch" Moyer, Oley, her two sons, Dale M. Heffner, companion of Allyson S. Jones, Molltown, and Robert W. Heffner, husband of Michele L. (Reed) Heffner, Virginville. She is also survived by her stepchildren, Bryce and Danielle (Bause) Moyer, Fleetwood, and Bethany (Moyer) and Randy Hoover, Leesport, her grandchildren, Candice, Malori, and Lydia, her step-grandchildren, Benjamin, Courtney, Andrew, Amanda, and Ryan, her great-granddaughter, Peyton, her step-great-grandsons, Brysen and Beckham, and by her brothers and sisters, Ray Davis and his companion, Doris Evans, Larry Davis and his wife, Sharon, Arlan Davis and his wife, Deborah, Sandy Manbeck and her husband, Oscar, Allen Davis and his wife, Jane, Luther Davis and his wife, Teresa, and Daniel Davis, and by many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her mom and dad, Ruth was preceded in death by her daughter, Lori Heffner in 1991, her step-grandson, Dustin Moyer, her sister, Carolyn Weida and her brother, Leroy Davis.
Funeral Services for Ruth will be held on Thursday, September 14, 2023 at 11:00 am at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 117 E. Arch St, Fleetwood, PA. Burial will follow in Berks County Memorial Gardens, Maidencreek Township.
Viewings for Ruth will be held on Wednesday evening, September 13, 2023 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Walbert Funeral Home & Crematory, 14390 Kutztown Rd, Fleetwood, and again on Thursday morning, September 14, 2023 from 10:00 to 11:00 am at the church.
