Sarah J. (Hoffman) Kurtz

Sarah J. (Hoffman) Kurtz, 75, of Richmond Township, went home to be with our Lord on Friday, July 29, 2016 at Keystone Villa, Blandon, PA.

Born April 7, 1941 in Ephrata, PA, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Vera (Cammauf) Hoffman. She and her husband of 54 years, Norman J. Kurtz, were married on April 28, 1962 in Denver, PA.

Sarah was an integral part of her family's business, working alongside her husband and sons as the bookkeeper for Norman J. Kurtz & Son Business, Fleetwood, for 46 years. She had previously worked at Moyers Factory, Ephrata, as a sewing machine operator.

Sarah was a member of Oley Valley Mennonite Church, Oley, where she had been a member of the Sewing Circle and had served as their Secretary and Treasurer for many years. She enjoyed flowers, gardening around the house and always providing the birthday cakes. Sarah had attended Cocalico School District.

Surviving in addition to her husband, Norman, are her children, Gary L. Kurtz, Fleetwood, Ronald L. Kurtz, husband of Melody H. (Brown) Kurtz, Fleetwood and Diane L. (Kurtz) Berger, wife of Dean A. Berger, Fleetwood. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Kimberly L. Berger, Rachel L. (Kurtz) Lentz, wife of John S. Lentz, Eric R. Kurtz, Tonya L. Berger and Daryl A. Berger, all of Fleetwood, her siblings, Paul and Miriam Hoffman, Ephrata, Luke and Betty Hoffman, New Holland, Phyllis Hoffman, Ft. Myers FL and Naomi Hoffman, widow of John Hoffman, Witmer, PA.

Along with her parents, Sarah was preceded in death by her sisters Helen Nolt, Ruth Witmer and Esther Lynch and her brother John Hoffman.

Funeral Services for Sarah will be held on Saturday, August 6, 2016 at 10:30 am at Oley Valley Mennonite Church, 1571 Memorial Hwy, Oley, with Pastor Gary E. Lloyd officiating, assisted by Norman's cousin, Calvin Kurtz. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Viewings will be held for Sarah on Friday evening, August 5, 2016 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Walbert Funeral Home & Cremation Services, PC, 14390 Kutztown Rd, Fleetwood and again on Saturday, August 6, 2016 from 9 am until time of services at Oley Valley Mennonite Church.
