Mrs. Susan L. (Angstadt) Nagel

March 22, 1954 — March 20, 2022

Susan L. (Angstadt) Nagel, 67, of Boyertown, passed away in the loving presence of her family on Sunday evening, March 20, 2022, after a short bout with cancer.

Born March 22, 1954, in West Reading, she was the daughter of the late Jean L. (Krick) and Robert E. Angstadt Sr. She and her husband of 44 years, Dana L. Nagel, were married on June 25, 1977, in Boyertown.

Susan grew up in Fleetwood, Pennsylvania, where she graduated from Fleetwood Area High School, class of 1972. As the oldest sibling of nine children, she would fondly tell stories of being a second mother to her younger sisters and brothers. A role she cherished and prepared her for her true calling, as a mother and grandmother.

Two of Susan's superpowers included sharing stories and remembering birthdays. She would share her memories with anyone who would lend their ear. Her stories would bear innocence and kindness, no matter the adversity she was facing. She would recall the birthday and Zodiac sign of anyone she'd meet, regardless of how much time had passed.

Susan was a very thoughtful gift giver and ensured everyone was included. She was an avid collector of dolls, figurines, and other collectibles. She enjoyed playing bingo and cards. She would dance like no one was watching and could "cut a rug" with the best of them. She took immaculate care of her cat, Katie, which brought her much joy.

Susan's greatest love was, and will forever be, her children. Through her many challenges in life, including losing an infant son to SIDS, she remained strong, kind, and gentle. Her compassion never wavered. She was proud of her boys and instilled in them the same admirable traits she exuded. One of her final wishes in life was to be buried alongside her second child and infant son, which further tells the story of the love for her boys.

Surviving in addition to her husband, Dana, are her two sons, Derek A. Nagel, husband of Marcie L. (Arvonen) Nagel, Aldie, VA, and Ryan A. Nagel, Boyertown. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Derek Jr., Devin, Savanna, Carson and Trinity and by her brothers and sisters, Christine M. (Angstadt) Sporre, Robesonia, Janie H. (Angstadt) May, wife of William A. May, Sinnamahoning, PA, Cynthia A. (Angstadt) Sadowski, wife of John A. Sadowski, Fleetwood, Robert E. Angstadt, Jr., husband of Pamela M. (Burgert) Angstadt, Kutztown, David P. Angstadt, husband of Ann L. (Boyer) Angstadt, Fleetwood, Richard W. Angstadt, husband of Victoria L. (Longan ) Angstadt, Leesport, and Tracy M. (Angstadt) Brenneis, wife of Keith P. Brenneis, Hanover, MD, and by many nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents, Susan was preceded in death by her son, Darren A. Nagel, her brother, Thomas M. Angstadt, and her nephew, James P. Reese.
