Susan F. Heffner

Susan F. (Torres) Heffner, 49, of Mertztown, passed away on Thursday, February 16, 2017 at her home, surrounded by her loving family, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Born September 15, 1967 in West Reading, she was the daughter of Lucas M. and Darlene F. (Ohlinger) Torres, Mertztown. She and her husband of 28 years, Randy R. Heffner, were married on February 20, 1988 in New Jerusalem.

Sue had worked at the CVS Pharmacy, Kutztown, as a pharmacy technician. She was a 1985 graduate of Brandywine Heights High School and took medical assistant courses at Berks Technical Institute. She was a loving wife, daughter, mother and especially grandmother. Her granddaughter, Ella was the most important thing in Sue's life and she truly adored her. Sue also loved punch needle and rug hooking as well as participating in 18th century reenactments.

Surviving in addition to Sue's husband, Randy and her parents, Luke and Darlene, are her son, Dakota R. Heffner, husband of Jennifer L. (Bewley) Heffner, Mertztown and her beloved granddaughter, Ella Marie Heffner. She is also survived by her brother, Lucas D. Torres, husband of Kelly (Miller) Torres, Topton, her nephew, William A. Torres, Mertztown and her mother-in-law, Mary A. (Oswald) Lloyd, Macungie.

Sue was preceded in death by her son, Colton J. Heffner, who died on February 19, 2015.

Funeral Services for Sue will be held on Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at 11:00 am at Walbert Funeral Home & Cremation Services, PC, 14390 Kutztown Road, Fleetwood, with the Rev. Gary L. Walbert, officiating. Burial will follow in New Jerusalem Cemetery, Rockland Township. A viewing for Sue will be held on Wednesday from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the funeral home.
