Mrs. Vivian Jean Madkiff, 70, of Kutztown, passed away suddenly on Wednesday morning, March 8, 2023 at her home.
Born August 22, 1952 in Millville, NJ, she was the devoted wife of William Madkiff Jr., whom she married on February 24, 1987 in Aliquippa, PA.
Vivian worked for 15 years for Wheaton Glass Company, Millville, NJ, where she was the first woman mold maker in the United States. She went on to work as Assistant Postmaster at the US Post Office in Port Elizabeth, NJ and also worked as a mold maker at Owens Illinois, Hapeville, Georgia. Most recently, Vivian worked as an associate at the Rite Aid in Kutztown.
Vivian was a 1970 graduate of Millville High School, Millville, NJ, and also attended vo-tech school and trade schools for mold making. She attended St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Kutztown, and truly enjoyed the beach, cooking, reading, words with friends, scrabble and spider solitaire.
In addition to her husband, Bill, Vivian is survived by her children, Loretta J. LaTourette, wife of David LaTourette, Greenwich, NJ, Carrie Frost-Hyson, companion of Brian Farthing, Millville, NJ, and Jake C. Madkiff, Kutztown. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Rachel Wagnon, wife of Greg Wagnon, and Zed LaTourette, husband of Mallory LaTourette, and by her great-grandchildren, Charles, Beau and Ziva.
Vivian was preceded in death by her great-granddaughter, Zara.
Memorial Services for Vivian will be held on Sunday, March 12, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Walbert Funeral Home & Crematory, 14390 Kutztown Road, Fleetwood. A visitation will be held Sunday from 1:00 pm until time of services at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Vivian's memory to the American Kidney Fund, 11921 Rockville Pk, Ste 300, Rockville, MD 20852.
