William A. Batchelder

William A. Batchelder, 88, of Boyertown, passed away on Saturday, March 15, 2025 at Reading Hospital, West Reading, PA.

Born March 23, 1936 in Concord, New Hampshire, William was the son of the late Marion (Morrill) and George Batchelder. He and his wife of 59 years, Norma (Simon) Batchelder, were married on November 21, 1965 in Studio City, California.

William worked in the social services and counseling field from college until his retirement in at the age of 81. He was a member of Hopewell Church, Elverson, where he sang in the men's choir.

William earned his Bachelor's of Science Degree from Boston University, his Masters Degree from University of California-Berkley, and studied in the Doctoral Program at Fordham University. He and Norma grew up during the 1960's backpacking and hitchhiking across the country. William truly enjoyed camping, bicycling, and traveling.

In addition to his wife, Norma, William is survived by his children, Daniel B. Batchelder, husband of Kimberly S. (McElwee) Batchelder, Oley, Cynthia L. Batchelder, Exeter Township, and Marjorie L. (Batchelder) Wingert, wife of Nathan Wingert, Chesapeake, VA. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Annaliese, Madison, Kirstin and Tayla, and by his sister, Susan Crovo, Santa Cruz, California.

Along with his parents, William was preceded in death by his brother, George, and his sister, Marilyn.

A Celebration of Life for William will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at 11:00 am at Hopewell Church, 2286 Hopewell Rd, Elverson, PA. A visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
