William E. Morey Jr., 92, of Mohnton, passed away on Tuesday morning, October 22, 2019 at Manor Care Health Services, Sinking Spring.
Born July 23, 1927 in Trenton, NJ, he was the son of the late Naomi (Waid) and William E. Morey, Sr. He and his wife of 71 years, Helen Mae (Swavely) Morey, were married on July 10, 1948 at St. Luke’s E.C. Church, Shillington.
William served his country honorably and faithfully in the United States Navy during World War II, serving in Japan.
William was a lifelong carpenter and the owner and operator of Morey Brothers Construction, Mohnton. He founded the business in 1963 and owned the business until his sons took over in 1993. He continued to help in the business for many years after his retirement. He was a member of St. Luke’s EC Church, Shillington, where he served on the board, and a graduate of Shillington High School.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Mae, are their children, Jerry Morey, fiance of Angie George, and Jeff Morey, husband of Stacey Morey, their grandchildren, Jesse and his wife Jamie, Zachary, Melissa and her husband Leroy and Devon. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren, Owen, Alexis, Daylen and Reilly and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Along with his parents, William was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Janna, his great-grandson, Dawson, his brothers, Robert and Irvin and his sister, Martha.
Services for William will be private.
