Obituary of Clifford R. "Buppy" Schlenker
Clifford R. "Buppy" Schlenker, 69, of Richmond Twp, passed away on Thursday, May 31, 2018 at Lehigh Valley Hospital after a short illness.
Born November 5, 1948 in Allentown, PA, he was the son of the late Raymond and Ruth (Fegley) Schlenker. He and his wife of nearly 25 years, Susan D. (Breiner) Schlenker, were married on August 28, 1993.
After graduating from Kutztown High School in 1966, Buppy enlisted in the Army National Guard. He served his country honorably and faithfully for over 38 years, including his active duty service in the United States Army during Operation Enduring Freedom.
Buppy and his father owned and operated Ray's Sunoco in Kutztown for many years. He went on to work in maintenance at East Penn Manufacturing Co, Lyons. Following his time at Deka, Buppy returned to full time service in the Army Reserves, working as a mechanic in Norristown, Easton and Allentown. For the last two years, he worked for Eshelman Transportation, driving the vo-tech school bus for Kutztown and Brandywine Heights School Districts.
Buppy was a member of New Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church, Fleetwood, the Fraternal Order of Eagles #839, Kutztown, the American Legion, Ray A Master Post #217, Topton and the Lyons Fire Company. Buppy was a huge Dallas Cowboys Fan, loved Nascar, especially Mark Martin, watching TV, collecting model cars and sports cards and most of all, golfing.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Susan, are his children, Rebecca J. (Kocher) Graeff, wife of John J. Graeff, Kutztown and Richard R. Kocher, III, husband of Dianne (Feldman) Kocher, Joplin, MO, his grandchildren, Matthew, Cody and Courtney, and Dalton, his sister, Brenda L. (Schlenker) Feiring, wife of Lloyd Feiring, Kutztown, his niece, Mandy S. Garrison, wife of Gregg Garrison, Concord, NC and his kitty cat, Precious.
Along with his parents, Buppy was preceded in death by his daughter, Catherine S. Kriebel, in November, 2017.
Funeral Services for Buppy will be held on Thursday, June 7, 2018 at 11:00 am at Walbert Funeral Home & Cremation Services, PC, 14390 Kutztown Rd, Fleetwood, with Rev. Ruth F. Doty, officiating. Interment with Military Honors provided by the Military Services Honor Guard, Indiantown Gap and the American Legion, Ray A. Master Post #217 Honor Guard will follow at Berks County Memorial Gardens.
Viewings for Buppy will be held on Wednesday evening, June 6, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm and again on Thursday, June 7, from 10:00 to 11:00 am at the funeral home.
